Royal Pets
From ancient times, royalty have always been
bestowed the esteemed privilege of collecting strange
animals. Power, wealth, and connections gave them the
ability to acquire animals of great beauty, ferocity,
strength or rarity.

President George H. W. Bush (1989-93) walks onto the
White House lawn with his Springer Spaniel, Millie, and
Millie's new puppies. One of the puppies is Spot,
President George W. Bush's dog, that lives at the White
House today. |
 |
President Bush's dog Spot is an English Springer
Spaniel. She is the daughter of former President George
Bush's dog, Millie. She was born in the White House on
March 17, 1989 and is the only second-generation
presidential pet in history. She likes dry dog food and
sleeps on a chair in the First Couple's bedroom. |
Barney, a Scottish Terrier, is said to be unusually
well-behaved for a puppy. Currently he sleeps in a crate in
the upstairs kitchen. Once he's housebroken, he may graduate
to a sleeping spot in the First Couple's bedroom. Barney
likes dry dog food as well.
Buddy
the former First dog ( President Clintons dog) may not be
the most popular dog in the world but it will go down in
history as a pet that shared the camera limelight with the
worlds most powerful First Family in the face of scandal.
Buddy held its ground through out this period and never once
was the President nor we the American public ashamed of his
countenance.
We the people of PetHall salute the Labrador named BUDDY.
Buddy died Jan 2002

Socks could often be found on the South Lawn taking
naps. After moving to the White House with President
Bill Clinton in 1993, Socks was the first cat to live
in the White House since Amy Carter's cat, Misty
Malarky Ying Yang.
President
George Bush's dog Millie was the first First Pet to
write a book. Millie had puppies while President Bush
was in office, and her puppies all went to good homes.
Ranger, one of Millie's puppies, is pictured here with
President Bush. Millie is in the 1999 Guinness Book of
World Records as the
highest-earning literary dog.

Rex, a King Charles Spaniel, came to live with
President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan
when he was a year old. Rex often pulled too hard on
his leash and would drag the Reagan's away from
reporters and photographers before anyone could ask
the President any questions!
President Lyndon Johnson and his beloved
Yuki liked to perform in the Oval
Office. Yuki was found at a Texas gas
station by Johnson's daughter Luci. He
was one of the President's favorite
dogs. President Johnson also had two
beagles which he named Him and Her!
Caroline Kennedy's pony, Macaroni, was a
present from Lyndon Johnson. Macaroni
roamed freely around the White House
grounds and received thousands of fan
letters from the American public.
Caroline also had a famous dog named
Pushinka, who was given to her by the
head of the Soviet Union, Nikita
Khrushchev.
President Benjamin Harrison's son
Russell Harrison had a pet goat named
Old Whiskers. This goat was so ornery
that one day the President was forced to
chase him down Pennsylvania Avenue when
he decided to run away with the Harrison
grandchildren.
Fala, a Scottish Terrier and the most
famous of all First Pets, belonged to
President Franklin Roosevelt. Born on
April 7, 1940, Fala was a gift to the
President from his cousin Margaret
Stuckley. The President loved Fala so
much that he rarely went anywhere
without him.
