Chanda in Contest

Chanda in Contest

World’s Smartest Dog, Chanda-Leah recently entered a ‘Superdog’ contest in Toronto, Canada.  This past week she was chosen one of five dogs to go to the Canadian National Exhibition for the competition.

Back stage while the other four dogs were practicing their tricks, Chanda laid down and went to sleep in the Puppy-Mobile.

Finally, it was time to go on stage for the competition.  The contestants and their owners walked out onto the runway and went to a designated area to sit.

Each dog was given two minutes to perform his or her tricks.

Contestant #1…chased a Frisbee

Contestant #2…could sneeze, cry, whisper, bark, play dead, and sit pretty.  Unfortunately he could only do all this back stage.  In front of the live audience he appeared to have stage fright.

Contestant  #3 (Chanda-Leah) was at her best.  Her first trick was bowling.  She didn’t make a strike…but did knock down all but two bowling pins.  From there she picked up the garbage on the floor and put it into the garbage pail.  As her owner and trainer, Sharon Robinson, was picking up the garbage pail, Chanda was already riding her skateboard across the floor.  When Sharon sneezed Chanda ran quickly and grabbed a Kleenex for her.  At this point she put her paws up on a basketball, and with a huge smile on her face walked all around the floor, to the delight and amusement of the audience and the cameraman who was shooting for the local Toronto television station.

Contestant #4 was a big black dog who could jump to amazing heights to retrieve a ball.  This also could only be done back stage.

Contestant #5 was a white part poodle, who jumped through a hula hoop, and dropped a ball into a basketball hoop attached to his crate.

The audience choose the winner by their applause.
It was paws down for Chanda all the way.

Eukanuba (Iams) Dog Food, CFTO T.V., and the Super dog Show sponsored the contest.

The ‘Superdog’ Shows can be seen across Canada and the United States.  Check local papers for further information
